R&C Buddo Trust is a high performing family-owned farming business, located 20 minutes south of Hastings and Havelock North in the Poukawa district. Owned and operated by Rob & Coral Buddo with an overriding emphasis on balancing the four pillars of the business: people, profit, planet and progress. R&C Buddo Trust is Gap Assured allowing them to supply premium lamb to Atkins Ranch and they also graze and finish Wagyu Steers for Firstlight Foods, alongside their Friesian bull finishing.

All blocks have a high level of infrastructure supporting the farming operation. Working autonomously as well as cooperatively within the team of 4-5 permanent and casual employees across the blocks you will have confidence in your abilities whilst also knowing when to ask for help e.g. bull shifts, and busy periods. A key competency is the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently and safely.

Over the year the role is balanced out to a ratio of 80:20 stock to general work. Stock work will include rotational grazing, break fencing, yard work, picking, weighing, and drenching. You will require a small team of 2-4 efficient working dogs. The general component will include general tractor work, cropping, shifting of irrigators and water reticulation, an understanding of fault finding and erecting of electrics fencing. Training will be given as needed.

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic shepherd with 2+ years’ experience and a willingness to grow and develop to fulfil an immediate need within the business due to growth. The below will be key to your success:

  • Be part of a well-developed system using the latest technology for finishing stock to a high standard.
  • Potential for growth and professional development within the business.
