WHERE
Riverina Farms Ltd is a family-owned farming business in Waitotara, South Taranaki, operating a 250 ha dairy platform alongside a 750 ha sheep, beef and cropping property.

The dairy unit milks 700-750 Friesian cows in a high-performing System 4 operation, producing around 530 kgMS per cow through a 60-bale automated rotary shed with ACR’s, in-shed feeding and Protrack.

The dairy platform is flat to rolling, supported by 2 centre pivots, irrigating 100 ha and recently adopted Halter technology. The drystock unit provides key support to the dairy operation, including machinery resources and calf rearing.


WHAT
We are pleased to present this Contract Milking opportunity to the market. After six years on farm, the current Contract Milker is moving on, creating an ideal opening for someone with 2-3 years’ experience as a Farm Manager or existing Contract Milker. This role offers the chance to step into a larger herd within a consistently high-performing operation, supported by strong farm infrastructure.

As the Contract Milker, you will oversee the full day-to-day management of the 250ha dairy platform. The owners seek someone with excellent stockmanship, solid animal health knowledge, and strong attention to detail in feed management. While the owners will provide machinery support including tractors and feed-out wagons, the successful contractor will need to supply their own bikes and calf-rearing equipment.

WHO
Our client is looking for a skilled and reliable Contract Milker who can confidently manage the day-to-day operation of the farm. The below are also key to success in this role:

  • 2-3 years of Farm Management or Contract Milking experience.
  • Proven pasture management and feeding skills.
  • Have good staff Management and be able to lead an efficient team / HR experience.
  • High level of animal health and compliance knowledge.
  • Ability to run to dairy industry standards and execute the basics well.
  • The ability to take ownership of the operational management of the dairy platform.
