WHERE
Meads Farming Ltd is a third-generation family-owned farming operation in the Manawatu district, focusing on sheep and beef breeding, finishing, and some arable cropping. They manage approximately 18,000 stock units across three integrated blocks, all within 25 minutes of Feilding.

The 1000ha Waituna West block serves primarily as the breeding location, supplying progeny to the finishing blocks in Cheltenham (230ha) and Halcombe (540ha).

Located 30km north of Feilding, Waituna West features easy rolling hill country, well-maintained stock handling facilities, and quality machinery.


WHAT
Meads Farming Ltd is seeking a motivated Fencer General to join their team following a long-standing member's departure. This position, primarily based at Waituna West, involves working across all three farm blocks.

Reporting to Block Managers, you will lead fencing projects, repair fences, and perform general farm, water, and machinery maintenance. The role includes stock work, general agricultural tasks, and some tractor work.

Meads Farming Ltd encourages skill development and is ideal for someone eager to learn and upskill in tractor and agricultural work. While a working dog is not required, candidates with one or two dogs are welcome to apply.

WHO
Our client is looking for a Fencer General with solid fencing experience and strong communication skills. The below are also key to success in this role:

  • Solid experience with electric and conventional fencing - installation, inspection, and repairs.
  • Practical experience with machinery maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining farm infrastructure, including buildings, yards, gates, and water systems.
  • Tractor driving experience is not essential but advantageous.
  • High level of integrity and honesty.
  • Good communicator and ability to take direction and implement tasks efficiently.
  • Have strong time management and organisational skills and be a self-starter.
  • Restricted drivers licence (minimum).
