FARM MANAGER | Ruapehu Region

An opportunity for an experienced Farm Manager to lead stock operations across a 990-hectare intensively managed sheep, beef and dairy support farm, run as four blocks on the outskirts of Ohakune. Following 11 years of effective management, due to retirement, this well-established operation requires new leadership.

 

Collectively, the property winters approx. 11,500 SU and includes 6,400 Romney breeding ewes (all progeny finished), cattle finishing, dairy support grazing and winter cropping.

The role involves day-to-day farm operations, achieving stock and production targets, coordinating livestock movements and service providers, and managing staff and contractors, with a strong focus on animal health and welfare.

 

The ideal candidate will have proven sheep and cattle management experience, strong organisation and communication skills, accurate record keeping, four working dogs, and the ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance.

 

A comfortable three-bedroom home is provided, centrally located 10 minutes from Ohakune, with partner employment opportunities available. Remuneration will reflect experience.
