NB Twist is a family-owned farming operation spanning multiple properties in Central Hawke’s Bay, with bases in Argyll and Waipawa. The farms feature predominantly flat to easy rolling terrain and excellent infrastructure, supporting a flexible and diverse system that includes breeding cows, MA ewes, a venison herd, and finishing a substantial number of lambs.
The operation is well-managed and progressive, conveniently located 20 minutes from Waipukurau and 40 minutes from Hastings. There are two roles available, and the responsibilities can be tailored to suit the skills and experience of your preferred position. These positions can be intertwined i.e. Stock Truck Driver/Tractor Operator or Tractor Operator/Fencer General and all options will have a small amount of stock work.
What You’ll Bring:
Stock Truck Driver & General
- Hold Class 4 & 5 licences.
- Proven experience carting livestock, including handling a 9-axle (54T) unit.
- Strong stock handling skills and good stock sense.
- Comfortable and confident working with livestock.
- Rural background with practical farming skills.
- Experience with general tractor work, including feeding out.
- Knowledge of full cultivation processes, direct drilling, spraying, discing, power harrowing, and rolling (guidance/training provided).
Both roles
- Strong practical farming skills with a rural background.
- Fencing skills and a practical, can-do attitude.
- Good stockmanship, including experience using a handpiece.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible, and organised, with a strong work ethic.
- Good communicator with an excellent sense of humour.
- Responsible and respectful of farm equipment and resources.
- Great support systems in place with owners who are willing to pass on knowledge and upskill their employees.
